The Lady Amherst PheasantChrysolophus amherstiae is native to western China and Myanmar and if feral in England around Bedfordshire. The male has a much more striking plumage than the female (4845, 4850). 4852 shows a baby chick.
It is named after Sarah Countess Amherst, wife of William Pitt, Governor General of Bengal and was responsible for sending the first specimen to London in 1828.
