The BellbirdAnthornis melanura is a common endemic to both the Northern and Southern Islands. It is robin sized with a olive greenish color and curved bill. The female has a white stripe from the base of the bill under the eye and across the cheek. This is well shown in photo 6257. Many of these photos were taken at the feeders on Tiritiri Matangi one of the pest free islands, this one on the North Island.
