Photographing the Tree Swallow Tachycineta bicolor is made easy by their tendency to perch on posts and wires, as shown here. The green color of its back and crown, including around the eyes, and white breast and abdomen are distinctive. Most of these photos were taken at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, CA. In photo 1886 two swallows Barn and Tree were on a power line as were driving along the road near the Sonny Bono Salton Sea National Wildlife Refuge at the Salton Sea, CA.
