Nicaraguan Seed-finch
The Nicaraguan Seed Finch Oryzoborus nuttingi, is a species of bird in the Thraupidae (Tanager) family. It is found in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.
The scientific name of this bird commemorates the zoologist Charles Cleveland Nutting.
This bird was photographed at the Arenal Observatory.
Note the massive bill for eating seeds. Darwin would have been proud.
