Getting
up-close and personal with Owls and Hawks is not easy.
Thus, I took advantage of the birds in the Florida Keys
Wild Bird Center, a rescue center for injured birds. This
provided some great shots of a Barn OwlTyto
alba, a Great Grey
OwlStrix
nebulosa, a Great
Horned OwlBubo
virginianus, and a
American KestralFalco
sparverius.The
Red-shouldered HawkButeo
lineauswas taken in
the wild. He was sitting in a tree next to the tower at the
end of Shark Valley Trail in the Everglades National Park,
FL. He just kept staring at me as I got closer and closer.
The pale grey head is typical of the Florida subspecies.
