The Red-necked Parrot Amazona arousiaca is a critically endangered species. It is unique to Dominica and is especially found in the Northern Preserve where Bertrand took us birding. For about an hour was saw a pair flying far off down the valley, much too far away for a photo. Latter in the afternoon they came closer and I was able to get shots 5303 to 5337. It was not until I had downloaded all the photos to my computer and began to examine them in Aperture 3 that I noticed photo 5338 showing two full wings with the characteristic red splotches on the secondary wing feathers and in focus! What a lovely prize. Combined with the other photos it was a great day.
