The Lesser Antillean Saltator Saltator albicollis is common songbird found in most of the lesser Antilles. The name Saltator is Latin for “leaper” or “dancer” and refers to the heavy way they hop on the ground. Other birds in this genus include 14 others with the last common name of Saltator, plus two Grosbeaks. A close-up of the head 5043 shows a Grosebeak type beak that is grey near the base and yellow at the tip. These Saltators are common throughout most of the Lesser Antilles.
