While staying at the Pigeon Point Place near Charleston, OR (see VRBO.com) (2498) I scanned the mud flats at low tide and saw a shore bird with a black breast. Suspecting it was a Black-bellied Plover Pluvialis squatarola I put on my water shoes and slowly stalked the bird, finally getting close enough to get these photographs (2500). The female has some black on its breast but not much (1124). The juveniles have none.
