The Great Egret Artea alba is all white, very tall and has a very long neck. An important and easy distinction from the smaller Snowy Egret is the present of yellow feet on the snowy egret, Most of these photos were taken at the ‘Ding’ Darling National Wildlife Preserve on Sanabil Island. We were there during late March and the Great Egret had brilliant green at the base of the bill and around the eye (photos 1090, 1083, 3550). Photo 3550 shows a Great and a Snowy Egret in the same picture. The beginnings of the yellow feet on the Snowy Egret are just barely visible. The big black feet of the Great Egret are clearly seen. The photos of the two eggs and the Great Egrets nesting with young were taken at Gatorland, FL. Photos in the 7000 and 800 series were taken at the rockery at High Island, TX.
