The male Brown-headed Cowbird Molothrus alter is easy to identify because of the distinctive brown head on an otherwise black bird. The female is uniformly grey in color. It gets it name from frequenting areas where cows feed.
The Brown Headed-cowbird is a parasite in that it takes over the nests of other birds, threatening their survival.
