The Pyrrhuloxia is a cardinal like bird that is in the same genus, Cardinalis, as the Northern Cardinal. These photos are of female Pyrrhuloxias showing no red on the center of the breast and abdomen typical of the male. Both the Cardinal and Pyrrhuloxia have very prominent crest feathers.
The beak of the Pyrrhuloxia is yellow compared to the red beak of the Norther Cardinal.
