The Masked Southwestern Bobwhite is a rare and very local variant in the grasslands of southeastern Arizona. This specimen was easy to find and photograph because it was in the wild bird aviary of the Arizona-Sonorian Desert Museum, mixed in with the Northern Bobwhite (see next page). It has a distinctive black head and orange breast.
