TheCaño Negro Wildlife Refugeisset near the Nicaraguan border in a marshy, jungle-like area, and is one of the most difficult places to independently visit in Costa Rica. It is set in a remote area of the country and is often submerged in water from flooded rivers. We toured the marsh by boat and they were loaded with wildlife. One of my favorite types of bird is a Kingfisher and I was able to photograph four different species including the relatively rare American Pygmy Kingfisher.
