Brown Booby
The Brown Booby Sula leucogaster is a large seabird in the booby family, Sulidae. Its head and upper body are covered in dark brown, with the remainder being a contrasting white.
Their heads and backs are black, and their bellies are white. Their beaks are quite sharp and contain many jagged edges. They have short wings and long, tapered tails.
I have photographed them in the Caribbean, Hawaii and now Costa Rica. The range map shows their predominance in the Caribbean and Costa Rica. This bird was photographed sitting on a buoy, a common place for them , on the Pacific coast off Puerto Jimenez.
