White-tailed Kite
The White-tailed Kite Elanus leucurus, is an elanid kite of genus Elanus found in western North America and parts of South America. Mainly white underneath, they have black wingtips and shoulders and a white tail.
An elanid kite, is any of several small, long-winged, hovering raptors. All are specialist rodent hunters and most are members of the genus Elanus. Elanid kites have a near-worldwide distribution, with three endemic species found in the Americas, two in Australia, one each in Asia and Africa.
