The Carib Grackle Quiscalus lugubris looks very much like the Common Grackle Q. quiscula of North America. It is common throughout the lesser Antilles and was the first bird I photographed on the Caribbean trip. The female has a light grey breast and a white band above the eye. The male is dark iridescent purple with a striking yellow eye. It often look like someone painted a black spot on the grass or trees (3712, 4295).
