Day 2. Reserva Nacional De Lachay.

By taking the PanAmerican Highway north of Lima for about an hour through the desert, we reached Reserva Nacional de Lachay. At this time of year the hills were very dry and this was not the ideal time to visit, but we did see a number of interesting birds such as Black-chested Buzzard Eagle, Eared Dove, Croaking Ground Dove, Variable Hawk, Costal Miner, Least Seedsnipe, Burrowing Owl, Sierra Finch, Rufous-collared Sparrow and Band-tailed Sierra Finch.

The way there was through the Peruvian Desert.

After getting to the park headquarters we walked a mile to a small watering hole were the Rufous-collared Sparrow and Band-tailed Sierra Finch were located.

In the afternoon we drove back to Lima then west on Rt 22 into the Andes foothills to the town of Santa Eulalia and Peter's Hutten. The latter is a delightful hotel where we stayed.
