The Pigeon Guillemot Cepphus columba is a black and white sea bird with a characteristic inverted black V on the white patch on its side. This is apparent in most of the photos and is shown up close in photo 9070. Its legs are red (8911, 9183, 9325) contributing to it’s pigeon-like continence and name. A close up of its face shows the hook-like upper jaw 0236.
In flight the inverted V is seen on the wings (8126, 8124, 8172) along with the red legs.
Photo 9112 shows a Pigeon Guillemont preening itself in the water.
Its year around range extends down the west coast of Canada and Washington. In summer it can be seen down the entire coast of the U.S.
