Anhinga
Anhinga is the Indian Name for "snake bird." It spends much of its time underwater searching for fish as shown in the photo 1254. Because of the time spent underwater its feathers are so waterlogged that Anhinga has to spread its wings to dry in order to fly, as shown in the photo 1292. The first three photos were taken on the Anhinga trail in the Everglades National Park at the Royal Palms Visitor Center near the Homestead, FL entrance to the park. The photos 0978 to 0984 were taken from the tram at the Shark Valley Trail on the Tamiami Trail (Route 41). The last photo was taken in Gatorland. For more information on Anhinga Trail
