The Slaty-tailed Trogon, Trogon massena, is in the trogon family, Trogonidae. It breeds in lowlands from southeastern Mexico, Central America to Columbia and Ecuador. It is a resident of the canopy and higher levels of damp tropical forests, but comes lower in adjacent semi-open areas. Its tail lacks the typical strong horizontal banding of most togons.
These were photographed at Selva Verde, Costa Rica.
