Weavers
are seed eating birds, related to finches, with rounded conical bills. Their largest range is sub-Saharan Africa, plus some species in Asia and Australia. They derive their name from their elaborately woven nests which are the most elaborate of any birds (see photo). There are 9 genera of weavers. These include the genus Pioceus consisting of 60 species.
