New World Orioles are in the order Passeriformes, family Icteridae and genus Icterus. There are medium sized birds with strongly contrasting plumage often combining yellow and black. They eat insects, nectar and fruit. Because of their propensity for nectar they are often attracted to oriole feeders with the same general design as hummingbird feeders.
