The Purple-throated CaribEulompis jugularis is found throughout most of the Lesser Antilles. These were photographed on our birding trip with Bernard in the Dominica Northern Forest Reserve. As with all hummingbirds the intensity of the coloration of the gorget is dependent upon the intensity and angle of the sun. Thus, in most of the photos the gorget is brownish-red-purple. Occasion with just the right angle it is bright red 5460.
