The Ring-billed GullLarus delawarensis is one of the most common of the North American Gulls. The prominent black ring around the tip of the beak is highly distinctive and of course, what the gull is named after. The broad black band at the end of the tail (2603) is also distinctive.
These photos were taken on both coasts. The 0000 series photos were taken at the Supulveda Dam, Encino CA. Photos 2526, 2567 2599 were taken at Solono Beach, FL. The remaining photos were taken at Anza Berago State Park, CA.
The adult Ring-billed Gull has an all white tail in flight while the 1st winter gulls have a black distal tail band.
