The Chilean FlamingoPhoenicopterus chilensis is native to South America from Ecuador to Chile and Argentina. It can be distinguished from the Caribbean and Greater Flamingo by the grayish legs with pink knees and the larger amount of black on more than half of the bill.
The legs can bend forward at the knees.

The juvenile Chilean Flamingo lacks the color of the adult. It has a grayish plumage and a grey beak to match, The very young juvenile is has a white plumage.
