Anhinga Anhinga anhinga is the Indian Name for "snake bird." It spends much of its time underwater searching for fish as shown in the photo 1254. Because of the time spent underwater its feathers are so waterlogged that Anhinga has to spread its wings to dry in order to fly, as shown in the photo 1292. The first two photos were taken on the Anhinga trail in the Everglades National Park at the Royal Palms Visitor Center near the Homestead, FL entrance to the park.
