The Red-billed HornbillTockus erythrorhynchus belongs to the hornbill family Bucerotidae characterized by a long, down curved bill which is often brightly colored. Unique to hornbills the first two neck vertebra are fused. This may help to carry the heavy bill. They are omnivorous, eating both fruit and small animals. The distribution of the Red-billed Hornbill is a band across Central Africa from east to west and a second band across Southern Africa also form east to west.
