Frogmouth are a group of odd looking birds that are related to nightjars. They are so-named because of their huge frogmouth-like gape, used to capture insects. Their plumage allows them to high in trees to capture food. The belong to the order
Podargiformes and family Podargidae and, in the case of the Tawny Frogmouth, the genus Podargus. The other two genera are Batrachostomus and Ridigipenna.
