The Great Curassow Crax rubra is a large pheasant-like bird. Its range begins in southern Mexico and extends through Central America then along the western edge of Columbia and Ecuador (see map).
There is considerable sexual dimorphism with the male being predominately black while the female has a brown body and grey head and neck. Both look like they have had a bad hair day.
