Raggiana Bird of Paradise or Count Raggi's Bird-of-paradise or locally known as kumul ,Paradisaea raggiana, is in the Bird of Paradise Family Paradisaeidae. The majority of species in this family are found on the island of New Guinea and its satellites, with a few species occurring in the Moluccas and eastern Australia. The family has forty species in 13 genera. Birds of paradise are known for their elaborate male plumage consisting of elongated and elaborate feathers.
Unfortunately these photos from the San Diego Zoo were taken at the wrong time to catch the elaborate plumage. However, the photos in the 3000 series and 5083 were taken at the Honolulu Zoo and did show this plumage.
