The Fork-tailed FlycatcherTyrannus savanna, is in the tyrant flycatcher family. It occurs in a wide variety of habitats including pastures, riparian forests, and open residential areas with scattered trees. Its breeding range is from central Mexico to central Argentina.
These photos were taken at Esquinas Rainforest Lodge pastures, Costa Rica. They were ‘dive-bombing’ a juvenile Yellow-headed Carcara. One of the flycatchers lost a tail feather.
The last three were taken in Argentina at the Reserva Natural Otamendi.
