The Tawny FrogmouthPodargus strigoies is in the Podargidae family of frogmouths, a group of nocturnal birds related to nightjars.The Tawny Frogmouth is found throughout the Australian mainland. Since neither of these birds at the Discover Cove opened its mouth I have taken an open mouth photo from oceanwideimages.com. One look leaves no doubt as to where the name “frog mouth” came from.
