The Magnificent Hummingbird Eugenes fulgens is well named. Along with the Blue-throated they are the largest of the western Hummingbirds. With its imposing size, bright green-blue gorget, purple crown and green body they are a hummingbird to die for. The large white spot behind the eye is characteristic.
These were all photographed at the George Walker House and the Cave Creek Ranch.
Photo 6993 showing a Magnificant and a Broad-tailed on the same feeder illustrates the larger size of the Magnificant.
